Commissioning Date: June 2025
In the production of viscose fiber, an alkali solution is used to dissolve hemicellulose from pulp. If the concentration of hemicellulose in the alkali solution becomes too high, it can adversely affect the quality of the viscose fiber products. To maintain the hemicellulose content in the impregnation alkali solution, the common practice is to discharge a portion of the impregnation alkali solution and supplement it with fresh alkali. The discharged impregnation alkali solution is referred to as waste alkali. The main components of waste alkali are sodium hydroxide and hemicellulose. PSI alkali-resistant membranes are employed to purify and recycle the alkali solution and recover hemicellulose.
