Application of PSI TFN Specialty Acid-Resistant Membranes in Strong Acidic Wastewater Treatment

1. Purification and Recovery of 25% Sulfuric Acid in Aluminum Electrolysis Plants

Project Overview

Location: Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province
Water Source: Sulfuric Acid Wastewater from Aluminum Electrolysis Plant
Capacity: 20m³/h
User: Operations & Maintenance Company
Purpose: Sulfuric Acid Purification and Reuse
Commissioning Date: February 2019

Project Information

The raw feed liquid to be treated in this project is waste acid solution with approximately 25% sulfuric acid concentration from the anodizing and pickling process of aluminum alloy profiles. By adopting a specialty acid-resistant nanofiltration membrane method, the process is simplified and enables recovery of 60-90% of the waste liquid.

Technical Results

Flux exceeds twice that of a leading imported acid-resistant membrane; Service life > 12 months.

2. Titanium Dioxide Plant 5%-12% Sulfuric Acid Purification and Recovery

Project Overview

Location: Qianjiang City, Hubei Province
Water Source: Titanium Dioxide Plant Sulfuric Acid Wastewater
Water Quantity: 30m3/h
User: Engineering Company
Purpose: Sulfuric Acid Purification and Reuse
Commissioning Date: December 2024

Project Information

The sulfuric acid method is one of the primary global processes for titanium dioxide production. However, this process generates a significant amount of waste acid liquor, which has a complex composition primarily including sulfuric acid, ferrous sulfate, and other metal sulfates. If not treated effectively, this waste acid liquor can cause severe environmental pollution, and the valuable components within it cannot be recycled, leading to substantial resource waste. Therefore, the effective treatment of waste acid liquor is of great significance, as it concerns both environmental protection and resource recovery.
A titanium dioxide production enterprise utilizes PSI Specialty Acid-Resistant Nanofiltration Membranes to enable the resource recovery and regeneration of ferrous sulfate and sulfuric acid from acidic wastewater in titanium dioxide production.

3. Application of PSI TFN Specialty Acid-Resistant Membrane Equipment in Nitric Acid Recovery

Project Overview

Location: Wuzhou City, Guangxi Province
Water Source: Cleaning Wastewater
Capacity: 5m³/h
User: Electronic Aluminum Foil Enterprise
Purpose: Purification and Recovery of Nitric Acid Solution
Commissioning Date: June 2025

Project Information

During the production process, wastewater is generated from the chemical cleaning of corroded aluminum foil surfaces using nitric acid solution. This wastewater contains small amounts of sulfate and chloride ions, with the primary salt content being aluminum compounds. Through nanofiltration equipment, aluminum salts and sulfates are effectively retained, enabling the purification and recovery of nitric acid solution.
